Gable Lodge and Lynton are within the beautiful, unspoiled Exmoor National Park. The guesthouse is a few minutes walk from breath-taking views and landscapes that have been untouched by time. The area is a walker's paradise but there are also a whole range of activities for adventurers of every age and inclination.

The Valley of Rocks
The Valley of Rocks was formed during the Ice Age when the East Lyn River was diverted westwards. Once the ice retreated, the river could resume its usual course leaving the dry valley we see today. A short stroll away, here you can enjoy dramatic rock formations and caves. Stop for tea or ice cream at Mother Meldrum's cafe and while away the time watching the feral goats.​
The Cliff Railway
Enjoy a ride on the only fully water powered railway in the UK. It's been here since 1888 and is still the most eco-friendly mode of transport bar your own two feet!


Woody Bay Steam Railway
Step back in time with a ride on the Woody Bay steam railway. Roll through the Devon countryside and enjoy tea at the station.
Heddons Mouth
The Heddon Valley, on the Exmoor coast, was a favourite haunt of the Romantic poets Wordsworth and Coleridge. It is one of many locations in the area with towering cliffs sloping away to lush wooded areas and quiet bays.


Lynton Cinema
Conveniently located in Lee Road in a Grade 2 listed former Methodist chapel, Lynton Cinema is one of the smallest full time cinemas in the country. It shows new releases with evening and matinee performances.
RHS Rosemoor
There are more than 65 acres of formal and informal gardens to explore. Rosemoor blends formal and informal plantings to magical effect.


Arlington Court
Built in 1823, Arlington Court is part of an estate that has been in the same family for 500 years. As well as a household of treasures, there are gardens to explore and a carriage museum. The Old Kitchen Tea Room serves refreshements.
